Artist Bio, Behind The Screens

Artist Bio:

Yukkin is the author, creator and corporeal force behind the digital being Yucan Sparkle. Knowledgeable in many mediums and techniques, ze migrates to whichever mediums best suit their projects and are accessible for them to explore. Interdisciplinary maximalist by design, Yukkin abstracts and blends the corporeal and digital universe. From immersive interactive installations like their Zavitz solo show(2023), to livestream creations; Yukkin has continued innovating. Exploring personhood, questioning social hegemony and expectations in theatrical, phantasmagoric displays while investigating absurd questions. Located simply “Behind Yu”, this Guelph Graduate displays the absurdity of normal, empowering people to create their universe and authentic self.

Continuing to explore personhood and social stigma in a playful and uplifting manner, Yucan creates experiments to answer absurd questions; sharing the unintentional humour from the absurdity often found in the discomfort of social norms. Yucan playfully explores and offers uplifting joy to be found in being human and taking absurdity literally. Breaking most Vtubing rules, Yucan challenges the dehumanization of Vtubers with their comfortability to break away from solely digital realm fluidly to show the behind the scenes and screens of production and personhood.

General Overview of Technical Abilities

Formally trained in traditional mediums including: photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, experimental practice and sculpting. In newer more experimental practices I have knowledge in: 3D modelling, digitizing embroidery, vector art, animation, videography, performance, laser cutting, live streaming, Live 2D rigging and art cutting, modelling, costumery, visual effects makeup, cooking, resin, beading, crochet, paper making, knitting and more. Aside from material knowledge, working in such variety of techniques and mediums means a collection of knowledge in large selection of software and awareness of 2D and 3D design considerations.
